for time begins to slow and steady

it seems to have gone so quickly lately
so swiftly away from me

and the things i'm supposed to remember
where will they fit in this junkyard blender

and like i said, in the six minutes past
it slowed down as i focused
like a fly rod in the sun, i cast and cast
rolling rolling, thunder down the lane
14 pound ball, hand cramped from the pain
i roll i roll down the lane
8 pins drop, always the same
concentrate for the pick-up, man
relax your brain:
you grab one weighing 13
more control this time
you angle from the center
you angle out wide
watch the ball spinning ever more toward the side
you turn around before it's over
knowing you got 'em both
and now it's their turn to step up and bowl.
i dreamed a dream of unicorns
i took them softly by the horns
pointed them anon their way
bid adieu and went about my day
slow down you go to fast
expectations they don't last
when you move that fast
and the days just seams running together
slogging together on and on toward forever
wake up, cold fog
an hour or two of drizzle and then come the sun
followed by the thunder, the rain, the hail
then we all run for cover
when the hail stops the wind remains
banging trees scratch my screen and bring my head pain
that wind continues on and off, on and on until it gets dark
so the eve remains wet and cold, but not too active
though noises howl in the night like ghost cackling
then i wake; i struggle out of bed
to greet the cold fog once again
sun peaking out through the clouds
as fog glares in the background all around
surrounding the peaked hills in the distance
the sun glares with bold resistance
and not to dote or hesitate
i must throw myself inside it, this cannot wait
held up today watching the storm come my way
they say five days of rain, i say okay
bundled up in an itchy sweater
hunkered down with spades and leather
bound books, i'm classy that way
fancy myself in that old fashioned way
sipping teas, antiquities
chocolate corduroys and candy from old candy stores
best i bee on my way to do my chores
buzzing buzzing while waiting out the storm
temperature above 60 degrees
quite a change from the east coast freeze
last week's frost bitten sneeze
inhale exhale, getting chesty and weeeeeeze...
the edge, well, it's been taken off
lingering blood in my nose from the dry air slowly now running off
who's the boss?
i'm the boss
the boss of me and this world until i'm good and ready when i damn well please, i'll nod off
rainy cloudy wintery day
missed the storms on the east coast anyway
but it's nice to feel a day or two
of seasonal want-for-summer blues
trapped inside to work or wait
play or rest or hibernate
and come another 48 hours
i'll be on a plane trying my best to arrive in time for christmas with all my powers
